Girl Scouts
Supporting young leaders in our community.
Girl Scout Troop 10871 is a multilevel Girl Scout troop based at First Universalist in Central Square. Its members range in age from 12 to 18 years old. The Troop’s focus is civic engagement and creating “Unity in the Community”. They accomplish this through events they host, activities they engage in and community organizations they assist. They truly are a sister to every Girl Scout and they make the world a better place just by being in it.
A major project initiated, designed and coordinated by the Troop is Extraordinary Acres, an all-inclusive playground. It’s located at 90 Wilson Rd. in Central Square and provides a range of fun activities for children of all abilities.

FUTURE PROJECTS
The Troop will be working with Collier Engineering to create a green space for the community. This will include a community garden and a seed pollinator area. Everything will be free and maintenance will be by the Central Square Community Garden organization. Volunteers always welcome.
The Troop will also be resurrecting their massive Butterfly Garden at Goettel Park. It was built to stop hillside erosion and is now a beautiful, Shasta daisy filled, butterfly shaped garden that assists the Monarch Butterflies in their trip to Canada. It’s complete with milk weed, butterfly bush and a butterfly house. It truly is an educated viewing area that adds beauty to the community.
